This is the Benny Lackner Trio's second New Zealand visit and they are excited to have the opportunity to perform for this special Wanaka Concert Series.

Benny Lackner will give the audience a mixture of Hendrix, Byork, Mingus and Monk. Lackner has studied with some of the greats of jazz including Charlie Haden and Brad Mehldua.

This trio plays at many European and American jazz festivals, and are currently on an Asian, New Zealand and Australian tour to celebrate the launch of their new CD. Lackner also shares a penchant for simple melodies that, while singable, are sometimes a little oddly askew also, something he no doubt learned from his time studying with Brad Mehldau.
