Sam Blakelock Band

At the age of just 18, Kiwi-born Sam Blakelock is an inspiration to the future of jazz in New Zealand.

Sam recently released his first EP Sunrise which fuses laid-back grooves, funky beats, smooth vocals with an injection of jazz.  His influences range from John Mayer and Jack Johnson through to George Benson, Eva Cassidy and Che Fu.

Last year the Christchurch-based Sam Blakelock Band, which combines a mix of funk, soul, reggae and jazz, competed in the ASB Queenstown JazzFest’s Jumpstart competition and won the Bands category.
