Remarkable Dixie

The local version of ‘Southern Dixie’, Remarkable Dixie has become something of an institution at the Queenstown JazzFest.

Recognized as one of New Zealand’s top Dixie groups, members have been entertaining fans at concerts, conferences, and festivals, including recording and television, throughout Southland and Otago for over 25 years.

The authentic New Orleans Dixieland line-up features, Trevor Tattersfield (Tpt/Flug), Robin Whiting (Clar/Sax), Wayne Lee (Trom/vocal), Les Richardson (piano), Dale Gold (bass) and Peter Doyle (drums/vocal).

The group has been top billing at Wine Festivals, Art Deco weekends, Seafood Festivals, and has featured at the Hamilton Jazz Festival, Queenstown Jazzfest, and the Noosa Jazz Festival on many occasions, with their unique blend of traditional Dixie, mainstream, and ‘commercial’ jazz standards from Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Willie Nelson.
