KIRI & HER 1940s JAZZ CLUBTraditionalTake a trip back in time to the glamorous jazz era of the 1930s, '40s and '50s with "KIRI and her 1940s Jazz Club" performing everything from sultry cocktail ballads by the piano to upbeat big-band swinging and dancing.
Dressed in glamorous costumes befitting the era, KIRI and her band perform all the favourite jazz standards sung by legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Marilyn Monroe.
Kiri Winders is based in Queenstown and has been singing, writing music and performing in bands for the past 16 years. Through her love of the great musical era of the 1930s, '40s and '50s, she branched into jazz, singing alongside the late Dunedin jazz icons Warwick Harford and Neil Paget.
She then headed to Sydney to train under Steve Ostrow, who has worked with Bette Midler, Patti La Belle and Barry Manilow.
On her return to Queenstown, she launched "KIRI and her 1940s Jazz Club" band at the 2007 Queenstown Jazz Festival. KIRI has continued to delight audiences at balls, weddings and conferences around the Otago/Southland region.
