Jeff Bradley & The Delta SwingJeff Bradley was born in Christchurch New Zealand to a musical family. His father a noted bassist, was his inspiration but it was his 13th birthday gift of a trip to the movies to see The Benny Goodman story that was to give life to a talent as yet undeveloped. This was his love of the clarinet and in particular Mr. Benny Goodman. Thus began Jeff’s life-long passion with the clarinet. His basis was in the classics but as we all know, learning is a journey and not a destination. He performed with a Military Band but this was not for him. After hearing Mr. Acker Bilk Jeff decided to follow the direction of Traditional Jazz. He would always enjoy concerts by touring Jazz Bands e.g. Louis Armstrong’s All Stars, The Dutch Swing College Jazz Band, Eddie Condon’s All Stars, Terry Lightfoot’s All Stars, Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen, The Count Basie Orchestra and when Mr. Acker Bilk arrived, well that was the icing on the cake! Mr.Acker Bilk and Jeff have remained close mates over a 40 year period. Over the years Jeff has both formed and performed in many bands both in New Zealand and Australia. It was in New Zealand however that Jeff formed his own band performing his unique vibrant tone and technique on his clarinet. This was “Easy Swing Jazz”, an uplifting and exciting experience for his listeners. The Delta Swing Sound was born!. This opened new ideas and opportunities as Jeff’s music is so refreshing and gives many audiences a fresh outlook and direction to how Jazz can Sound! Jeff has performed and perfected his sound over 46 years and feels that the Music Marketplace today is ready for this musical direction. He hopes you agree! Jeff and The Delta Swing wishes all listening audiences happiness, and good listening. |
