How to get to Queenstown?

Queenstown sits on the 45th parallel in the southwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand.  Getting here is easy as Queenstown International Airport is well served by major airlines.

Air New Zealand, Jetstar and Qantas make international and domestic flights into Queenstown.  There are daily direct domestic connections from all of New Zealand's major centres: Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Queenstown's international airport is located just 10 km's from the town centre.

Alternatively, access by road is a wonderfully scenic option - drive yourself or catch a scenic coach tour.

Getting Around Queenstown

Queenstown CBD is quite compact and walking is a great way to get to your JazzFest gig or to discover the retail outlets, souvenir stores, art galleries, bars and restaurants. The town centre is located ten minutes drive from the airport.

If you don’t rent a car whilst you are in town, there are a number of options to get around.  Taxi's are plentiful and can accessed from the many taxi-ranks in and around town (look for the signs, or better still ask a local), hailed or arranged via your hotel Concierge.  

The local bus service Connectabus is a great way to explore the area and operates from early morning to late at night. Connectabus services all major hotels and motels every 20 minutes. Routes cover Queenstown, Frankton, Arthurs Point, Arrowtown, Millbrook Resort, Lake Hayes, Remarkables Park, Queenstown Airport, Fernhill and Sunshine Bay. To view the timetable and route map for the Connectabus service please click here.

Airport shuttles run regularly, and there are a number of taxi companies in Queenstown.  Buses also provide connections to Glenorchy (approximately 45 mins away) and further afield to Wanaka, Invercargill, Dunedin and Christchurch.

Most activity and accommodation providers offer free shuttles to/from the town centre.
