Best described as a group of New Zealand's finest session players that do live gigs. The repertoire has a wide range of textures, sounds, rhythms and styles. Vocal sounds are dynamic, cool and blue; players that love to blow over grooves that range from Latin, Funk, Newfusion and Swing. The sounds can get heavier or lighter depending on the nature of the occasion.

The Sky City Casino will be filled with Culverwell's searing trumpet solo's and effects laden tones (think modern Miles Davis, Randy Brecker).

Culverwell's band brings together some of the best young jazz players from New Zealand, to perform a 2 hour set of intense jazz/funk grooves.
