Jazz


The Tin Flowers is a jazz groove collective from Wanaka, creating music that is lively, soulful, and quirky!


The Tin Flowers are:

Angela Mote (flute, saxophone) studied at Massey University and the NZ School of Music. Angela has played in a range of classical and jazz groups here and in Australia, including the Aeolus saxophone quartet and the Vector Wellington orchestra

Dominic Stayne (Double bass, bass guitar) studied at the Christchurch Jazz School. For the last ten years he has lived and played music in Wanaka, exploring the meeting points between jazz, funk, dub and rock. He has played with many different bands in many genres including the Jason Thornton Quartet and the Lucky Legs Experience.

Helen Carter (Keys-saxophone) studied music in London at the Guildhall School of Music, and Middlesex University. She has had a broad range of musical experience performing in Europe, Australia and NZ including the Camden Jazz cafe, the Queenstown jazz festival, the Cuba Street Carnival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  

Jeff Sinnott (drums, percussion) has managed a parallel career in wine & music. Growing up in Fiji introduced him to the rhythms of the Pacific. Jeff has performed around NZ and Australia playing rock, funk and jazz, including work with the Wetbacks in Australia and the Nairobi Trio in NZ.
