Since 1975 Mike has maintained a busy career as a Trumpeter in New Zealand and Europe playing in orchestras, touring with various shows and acts, TV, radio, and playing in pop bands. 

In the Netherlands from 1990 Mike played with the top pop group De Dijk and taught jazz and performance at the Rotterdam and Alkmaar conservatories. He returned to NZ in 2007. Since then Mike has continued a diverse range of music activities. 
Mike also lectures at the New Zealand School of Music and Auckland University and is a foundation member of the Auckland Jazz Orchestra.
Current jazz activity includes performances with the Auckland Jazz Orchestra, gigs with his own Quintet, Wakakura (CD to be released), with pianist Mark Baynes, and with the Phil Broadhurst Quintet (3 CD’s).
