Jason Thornton's 'Collision'

Jazz & Blues

This new project, brought to life by multi-instrumentalist Dr Jason Thornton (Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Cher, James Taylor, Gloria Estefan), is an exciting new chapter of original music for this composer, performer and educator.

Having spent most of his adult life either touring the world with many of the historical greats or lecturing music at Universities in various countries, Dr Thornton has recently settled back in his home, Sydney. “This latest project reflects all that I love in music and have gained from years of playing, from deep seated New Orleans inspired grooves, through to good honest hard rocking blues and some seriously harmonically challenging modern jazz. It shows all that I’ve experienced in music, and I hope, who I am.”
The Queenstown Jazzfest will see the inaugural performance of this project. The NZ band Jason has chosen for this launch is nothing short of spectacular. Featuring Simon Thompson (Southlands 2015 Entertainer Of The Year) on guitar and vocals, Ross Ogilvy on guitar, Jeff Sinnott on drums, Queenstown’s own Ned Webster on bass and vocals, and of course Jason Thornton on saxophone and flute.
This exciting, hard edged band promises to be nothing short of explosive.
