Mark and Janelle

Flor d'Luna

Jazz Trio

Janelle Aston and Mark Wilson began working together early in 1999. Janelle’s scat singing plus Mark’s strange but beautiful chords on the piano explore the possibilities of jazz harmonies. They are a special, unique and sumptuous musical dish. Harmonising, their voices blend majestically and unmistakably, filling the air with the most captivating and riveting energy. Sometimes using their voices to imitate brass instruments - making it hard to keep a straight face.

The local Queenstown pair was given a mysterious and exotic name: Flor d’Luna. They produced an album simply called Flor d’luna which they recorded locally.

Now Mark and Janelle are joined by the remarkable double Bass player, Dale Gold. Dale living in Arrowtown, plays regularly for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and is a master of the double bass. Mark and Dale first met a few years ago, and took the opportunity to play through some much-loved jazz standards. They loved working together and have also produced and album “gusto”.

Now Mark, Janelle and Dale are working together and are adding new material to the Flor d’luna repertoire and it is proving to be an exciting mix.
